The newly designed IR-1000 real-time camera (30 frames/sec.) offers enhanced sensitivity across the entire visible and near IR spectrum, with a 5X increase in sensitivity at 900nm.  The extended IR response allows deeper penetration into tissue sections (e.g. brain slices), while the high sensitivity enables the user to detect images even in lower light conditions.

To provide optimum contrast, the IR-1000 camera now includes electronics that automatically and instantaneously readjust when a scene changes.  This innovative design is especially useful when changing magnification levels, specimens, and/or lighting levels.  The camera’s new real-time edge enhancement feature sharpens the edges and delivers a clearer picture by resolving fine details in the image.

With a convenient C-mount, the IR-1000 is widely used in a “live” mode connected directly to a monitor.  An optional computer interface board is also available.  Dage-MTI’s new real-time camera is ideal for applications such as electrophysiology, infrared differential interference contrast (IR-DIC), failure analysis, forensics and semiconductor inspection.

Visualizing the invisible: dimensional temperature measurement

Thermographic cameras and camera modules from Jenoptik enable quick and non-contact measurement and visualization of two-dimensional temperature distributions in real-time. The high resolution of infrared thermographic camera systems over a wide spectral range documents subtle temperature gradients in detail.

Instant availability of measured data

Thermal images and measured data can be viewed and analyzed directly on the screen of our handheld thermographic cameras. Images and data are stored on a memory card directly in the camera or transferred to a computer for further processing - wireless or via cable.

Built-in radiometric calibration

For measurement of absolute temperature values, all thermographic cameras and camera modules from Jenoptik are radiometrically calibrated. More than 25 years of expertise in development and manufacturing infrared measuring systems warrants that all camera components are perfectly matched. Thus Jenoptik thermographic cameras are setting market standards regarding longtime stability, reproducibility and homogenity.

VarioCAM® high resolution thermographic cameras deliver thermal images of high precision suited for demanding applications in industrial R&D and other fields. Excellent thermal and spatial resolution, ease of operation versatile functionality and flexible interfacing options are outstanding features of the innovative thermographic camera systems.

With an image resolution of up to 1.2 mega pixel, the cameras are setting standards in the commercial class of handheld and staionary real-time thermography. The high image reolution of some VarioCAM high resolution models is enabled by the worldwide unique Resolution Enhancement technology from Jenoptik.Together with VarioCAM's renowned long-time stability the cameras offer a flexible thermographic measurement system for any application.

VarioTHERM® InSb MWIR - An infrared camera for spectral selective temperature measurement

High resolution spectral selective temperature measurement in MWIR


With a bandwidth of 2 - 5 microns the new VarioTHERM® InSb camera covers a wide spectral range ideally suited for spectral selective measurements in R&D, for example on glasses, flames or polymers. An integrated filter wheel enables usage of customer-specific filter-sets.

The stirling cooled Indium Antimonide (InSb) detector array with 640 x 512 pixels resolution warrants highly detailled thermal images and measurements within a temperature range from -40 °C up to 2,000 °C - with a temperature resolution of better than 15 mK.

IR-TCM HD stationary thermography camera module for system integration


For accurately measuring or visualizing heat distributons, the uncooled IR-TCM HD thermography camera module outputs radiometric images of up to 2048 x 1536 pixel spatial resolution and a thermal resolution of 50 mK NETD - in real time.

IR-TCM HD offers frame rates from 30 fps @ 1024x768 pixel up to 240 fps @ 1024x96 pixel in subframinmg mode.

IR-TCM infrared camera modules (non radiometric)


Visualizing and monitoring heat distributions

The IR-TCM infrared camera modules are designed for stationary system integration, for example into industrial automation and process control or security engineering.

The infrared camera modules operate in the spectral range between 7.5 µm and 14 µm and use un-cooled high-resolution microbolometer focal plane arrays (FPA) as image detectors. Detector resolutions from 384x288 pixels up to 640x480 pixels are available. Jenoptik's optical Resolution Enhancement technology boosts the image resolution to a maximum of 1.2 mega pixels delivering highly detailed thermal images.

The large offer of configuration options fro infrared camera modules from Jenoptik provides infrared imaging solutions for nearly any application.

Photometrics Prime 95B is the Scientific CMOS with extreme sensitivity using high Quantum Efficiency (QE) Backside Illumination (BSI), a first for Scientific CMOS cameras. The 95B’s sensor converts up to 95% of incident photons into a measurable signal. Unlike microlens approaches to increasing QE, which lose effectiveness as objective magnification is increased, Prime 95B’s BSI sensor brings light into the pixel photodiode from behind, avoiding structures that reflect or absorb light. When combined with large 11μm pixels, Prime 95B can deliver over 300% more signal than other sCMOS cameras at 100X magnification.

Terasense has developed an original patent-protected technology for making a new type of semiconductor detectors for sub-THz rays operating at room temperatures. The detectors can be combined into a compact and rather inexpensive sensor array (similar to CCD/CMOS sensors in a photo camera). The Company is developing imaging applications for THz and sub-THz frequency ranges based on its sensors.

Terahertz imaging cameras

  • Operates at frequencies (0.05 - 0.7 THz), where most common materials are transparent
  • Different models are available: 256 pixels; 1024 pixels; 4096 pixels - to accomodate any budget

The detectors are fabricated from GaAs high-mobility heterostructure in the standard semiconductor cycle using conventional optical lithography. The imaging sensor is manufactured on a single wafer. That process ensures high homogeneity and reproducibility of the plasmonic detector parameters (pixel-to-pixel deviation responsivity is within 20-percent range). Each unit detector proved to have room-temperature responsivity up to 50 kV/W with read-out circuitry and noise equivalent power 1 nW/Hz^0.5 in the frequency range 10 GHz – 1 THz. The detection mechanism is based on transformation of incident THz radiation into two-dimensional electron system (2DES) plasma oscillation. Plasma wave is then rectified on the inhomogeneity of 2DES electron density in the defect region.

THz Generators - IMPATT Diodes

Terahertz generators (IMPATT diodes)

An IMPATT diode (IMPact ionization Avalanche Transit-Time) is a high-power diode used in microwave electronics and sub-THz devices. They operate at frequency range 3 - 400 GHz. Main advantage is their high-power capability and small size. The IMPATT diode operates over a narrow frequency band, and diode internal dimensions must correlate with the desired operating frequency.

TeraSense series of IMPATT diodes are silicon double drift diodes with a 0.6 um transit region, mounted on copper heat sink. The layers in double-drift diodes are: a heavily doped (p+)-region, a moderately doped pregion, a moderately doped n-region, and a heavily doped (n+)-region. The (p+)- and (n+)- regions allow ohmic electrical contacts to be made to the external circuit. The device relies on negative resistance to generate and sustain an oscillation.

Ultrafast detectors by TeraSense consistently demonstrate response time of less than 150 ps. This was confirmed by direct observation of its impulse response function. The detector was excited by 200 nJ 1 ps laser pulse with a broad spectrum ranging from 0.1 to 3 THz, and its response was recorded by a high speed oscilloscope. The response function shows rise and fall times of 150 ps limited by the oscilloscope 4 GHz bandwidth.
